Pureco

Copper Artist

Carlos Pureco was born on June 28, 1957 in Santa Clara del Cobre, Michoacan Mexico. When he was 12 years old, he began learning the skills and techniques required for becoming one of Santa Clara's sought after Maestros. Learning from his family and various artists, Carlos creates incredible jewellery, kitchen and basin sinks, candle holders, picture frames, vases and various vessels.

We first met Carlos and Ivan Pureco in November 2017, after being introduced by Napoleon Perez. Having purchased a beautiful copper cuff in 2015 at one of the local galleries, Jennifer was eager to learn who made this incredible piece. The gallery refused to say who made the piece, and we soon learned that the galleries not only refuse to offer clients a biography for work purchased, they actually refuse to purchase signed pieces from the artists.  When we arrived at the Pureco home to pick up our first order, none of the pieces were signed, as requested, because the family wanted to be sure that we were actually going to take the full order. Once they knew that we were serious, they were very happy to sign the pieces for us.
