FEATURE ARTIST - Accessories: Martha Zertuche

Updated: Nov 24, 2023

Patzcuaro artist Martha Zertuche has an extensive background in arts, beginning with the study of Plastic Arts at UANL (Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León) in Mexico City. Upon moving to Patzcuaro, Zertuche dedicated herself to the local arts, learning various techniques with a special interest in working with copper. She has also worked with stained glass for many years.

Zertuche was a promoter of Michoacan as Delegate of the Secretary of Tourism, and Director of Municipal Tourism. She spent a great part of her later career as an art curator and gallery owner, owning several handicraft galleries in both Morelia and Patzcuaro. Her most recent artistic endeavor has been designing and handcrafting beautiful headdresses, crowns and hats with Dia de Muertos themes.

We are excited to showcase some of Zertuches designs, as these are beautiful accessories for your Catrina Costumes! If you are interested in purchasing some pieces, please contact Jennifer directly for more information and photos of the full collection. The crowns start at $400 MXN, the hats are $700 MXN, and the larger sombreros range from $1200-$1400 MXN.
